AFTER THE WEDDING
WHAT’S THE GOWNS’ FUTURE?
After the night and the music are over, and the wedding gown,
which costs anywhere from $887 to $10,000-plus, has danced the night away, what
is the bride going to do with her one-time wearable extravaganza?
Most brides, after the wedding, send the dress to the dry cleaner
and save it as an heirloom. Some brides
loan the dress to a family member or create a garment from the dress for their
first child’s Christening. No matter what transpires after the wedding,
the gown has to be cleaned after the reception.

packaging is used to extend the life of the
fabric. The gown will be expertly pre-spotted.
It will then be cleaned in a virgin solvent, and often air-dried.
After the cleaning the gown will be re-inspected and post spotted
by hand as required. Careful hand
finishing is the next step.
