AFTER THE WEDDING

WHAT’S THE GOWNS’ FUTURE?

After the night and the music are over, and the wedding gown, which costs anywhere from $887 to $10,000-plus, has danced the night away, what is the bride going to do with her one-time wearable extravaganza?

Most brides, after the wedding, send the dress to the dry cleaner and save it as an heirloom.  Some brides loan the dress to a family member or create a garment from the dress for their first child’s Christening.  No matter what transpires after the wedding, the gown has to be cleaned after the reception.

There are dry cleaners and then there are America’s Best Cleaners.  The corner dry cleaner will send it through a dry cleaning process and put it in a standard box.

America’s Best Cleaners affiliates will clean and package customers’ wedding gowns utilizing the same techniques museum conservators use to extend the lifetime of their textiles.  They will take the time to analyze the fabric, the embellishments, and the stains, and clean it accordingly.  Acid – free tissue and

packaging is used to extend the life of the fabric. The gown will be expertly pre-spotted.  It will then be cleaned in a virgin solvent, and often air-dried.

After the cleaning the gown will be re-inspected and post spotted by hand as required.  Careful hand finishing is the next step.  America’s Best Cleaners affiliates take great care to follow the designer’s original creation.  Tissue is used to cushion the folds. The gown is carefully packaged and presented in an acid-free archival box that is in turn often placed within a cotton liner for further protection.  Wedding gowns cleaned and preserved by one of America’s Best Cleaners’ affiliates will assure the proud owner that the gown will maintain its original beauty and pristine color for decades to come dancing beautifully at a next generation wedding.
